Laura McAdam, MSOD, CPA, CIA
Strategy and Alignment

Laura McAdam founded Profitability NOW in 2002.  Laura has over 20 years experience as a financial professional.  She focuses on improving the profitability and cash flow of organizations within all industries.  She focuses on strategy and alignment throughout the organization to improve financial performance.  Laura utilizes a collaborative approach in identifying improvement opportunities and developing action plans for execution.

Laura facilitates development sessions at conferences and industry events.  She is a frequent speaker for groups and associations looking to develop their financial acumen and gain a greater understanding of how they can directly impact the financial performance of their company.  One of the programs Laura helped create is HR Profitability.  HR Profitability is approved for 15 strategic hour continuing education for HR professionals by HRCI.

Laura was controller, treasurer, operations manager, and auditor for several Chicago area companies, both public and private.  In addition to her inherent financial knowledge Laura has strong leadership skills.  Her ability to impart knowledge and affect change is unique.  

Laura earned a Masters from Loyola University and a BA from Augustana College.

Karen Kimsey-Sward
Director - Strategic Sales and Marketing

Karen Kimsey-Sward has over 25 years experience as a top producing salesperson, sales manager, and performance improvement consultant.  She has worked extensively with a wide variety of organizations integrating their strategy, processes and skills to improve performance.  Karen’s practical, results-oriented approach, coupled with her real world experience, has brought her clients significant value and results.

Karen is an accomplished speaker and a published writer.  Over the years she has lectured at numerous national and international symposiums and conferences.  Her areas of focus include:  improving sales performance, creating fully engaged employees, managing generational differences, implementing effective management processes and implementing best practices.

Karen was Executive Vice President/COO of a premier sales consulting firm.  She played a critical role in helping this organization achieve significant growth to become one of the top performance improvement companies.  In addition, she worked in the pharmaceutical division of Procter & Gamble and held several key positions with major financial institutions.

Karen earned a BBA, with a concentration in marketing, from Marshall University. 

Linda E. Thomas, Ph.D.
Director-Corporate Social Responsibility

Linda has over twenty-five years experience as a professor, author, pastor, and humanitarian.  She has worked extensively with senior management in the areas of diversity, race relations, sexuality, and discrimination.  Her work includes large system change interventions around CSR.

Linda is an accomplished speaker and a published writer.  Her areas of focus include:  ethics in the workplace, a corporations’ responsibility to go green, conflict management, corporate responses to childcare, proactive response to avoid discrimination legal cases related to race, gender, class, sexuality (LGBTQI).  She is the author of Under the Canopy:  Ritual Process and Spiritual Resilience in South Africa, SC:  University of South Carolina Press, 1999.

Linda utilizes a non-judgmental, open approach when working through this subject matter.  Often these projects are filled with conflict and her objective is to navigate through the process to achieve a congruent end result.   

Linda is currently Professor of Theology and Anthropology at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.

Linda earned a Ph.D. from American University, Washington D.C., a M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary, N.Y.C., and her B.A. from Western Maryland College.

Laura Prescott-Smith
Director-Human Resources Management

Laura has over 15 years experience as a Human Resource generalist.  She has held Human Resources Director positions at both Advocate Health Care and Provena Mercy Center for Health Care Services. 

Laura works directly with smaller companies to provide human resource expertise in the areas of recruitment, salary reviews, development/revision of employee handbook/procedures and human resources processes and reporting, and development of performance monitoring systems.

Laura also works directly with companies to develop the HR function within their organization.

Laura earned an MBA concentrating in organizational behavior and management information systems and a BS in psychology both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
